  An exclusive interview with Divya , Founder of  i Desi is d2c platform for the end users to get the farm quality products and from the root of its origin. Our focus also involves around promoting the desi produce and not imported ones. Right now we serve spices, spice mix and dryfruits all Indian produce except California almonds which we are used to eating them soaked overnight. Also have a category FOR YOU where you can let us know any authentic product and its origin which you are missing to enjoy the real taste and our team works to serve you with the same. So with Indian produce an effort to serve people even if they have moved to metro and missing the native and natural taste. 

IdeapreneurIndia - When were you founded?

- We founded amidst the gloomy pandemic time in 2020.


IdeapreneurIndia - How many employees do you have? 

- Grown to a team of 12 working in different expertise.


IdeapreneurIndia - How do you get an idea to start this venture? 

- In the lockdown while surfing through facebook, saw a post of someone in pune looking for Malda aam of Bihar and my roots being there I took an effort to serve them with the same. This first delivery turned into a big order of 1000 kg transaction and finally start of the venture.


IdeapreneurIndia - Is the company funded?

- Not now as we focus to serve even small but with quality.

IdeapreneurIndia - What is the future Plan? 

- To connect with more farmers in different product categories which are not available in authentic taste from the retail shelves and promote more Indian natural taste.


IdeapreneurIndia - How different from others? 

- We focus on Indian origin products and knowledge of the place of origin for any product that we are serving. We are flexible enough under FOR YOU category where we work as per your product requirements and customization.



IdeapreneurIndia - What’s your revenue? 

- 65 lakhs.


IdeapreneurIndia - How fast are you growing? 

- We are growing very fast with quality and when it comes to quality only small quantity is manageable so we love to serve small but with no compromise on quality.


IdeapreneurIndia - Where did you get the idea for this company? 

- I was pretty happy in my profession but not satisfied and being in the entrepreneurial era, the kick to have something of own was always there. The frequent posts of the people on social media looking for different authentic products further helped to get into this.


IdeapreneurIndia - What’s your background? Did your grandmother have the problem you’re trying to solve? Did you? the skills you needed to start the business? 

- The background lies in 6yrs of professional experience in different industries across India. 

I tried to solve the problem that I and many people like me who moved away from their home for many reasons including academics, job, marriage. To ensure that we get the original quality products being in any part of the country, made this effort to get the products from origin and delivered to user's doorstep. Always had that passion and love to serve others and something small of own, the combination worked out well with i Desi.

IdeapreneurIndia - Who’s on your leadership team and what’s their background?  

- I am there on the front face with my other Co founders who look after the bulk and export orders with the company with prior rich experience in agriculture and food.


IdeapreneurIndia - successful in this space? What’s unique about your leadership team? 

- We are satisfied with the satisfaction of the customers and take this as our prior success. We are unique in our own passion and interest to serve the people.


IdeapreneurIndia - Why is your team perfect to solve the problems you’re tackling?

- Will not say perfect but yes solving the problem defines the existence of a startup. You have no other option, if you don't solve you are not there anymore. With the only option to grow, made all of us move towards perfection.


IdeapreneurIndia - How did you get here? 

- With the people who looked for quality products. It's true that unless there is a demand you can't create a market of your own. It spread through word of mouth and finally we were satisfied with their happiness.


IdeapreneurIndia - (If you’re a B2c startup) Who are some of your clients? 

- We are focused more on the individual customers from villages to town to cities to metro across the country. To mention, many supermart and retail shops are also among those customers.


IdeapreneurIndia - Who are your main competitors? 

- No one as of now who is there providing a flexible and customized offering to the customers. 


IdeapreneurIndia - How are you different from the competition? 

- We are offering with different variants of products as we understand one size not fits all. Also we don't serve beautiful products,  it's only raw, natural and unprocessed desi farm produce focusing on authentic taste of origin.

- Not as of now.
