Ratan Tata invests in healthcare startup iKure, sees food items for ola drivers
Ratan Tata, one of the country's leading industrialists, has invested in healthcare startup company iCure. However, the amount invested by Tata has not been disclosed. iCure provides primary health services through its clinics, digital technology and network of trained healthcare workers.
The company has said that after receiving the new investment, it will rapidly expand its operations in India and globally. Commenting on Tata's investment, Sujay Santra, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of iCure said, “We are very happy that Ratan Tata has considered investing in our company. It is a matter of great honor and encouragement for us.
Ola Foundation, the social service unit of Ola, which provides online taxi booking facility on the mobile app, will distribute 2.5 million food grains among the drivers to help them. The company said in a press release on Tuesday that it has tied up with voluntary organization Robinhood Army to provide rice, pulses and other food items among drivers under Drive the Driver Fund.
According to the release, a total of 25 lakh food grains will be distributed among the drivers and their families in 20 cities. The cities where the company will distribute food grains among the drivers include Mysore, Kochi, Guwahati, Dharwad, Amravati, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Nashik, Pune, Nagpur, Raipur, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi and Coimbatore.
Commenting on the initiative, Anand Subramaniam, Spokesperson, Ola said that drivers are the backbone of India's transport system and contribute significantly to the economy and the nation. This initiative, launched under Drive the Driver Fund, will have a positive impact on the families of thousands of drivers. The organization has claimed to distribute one crore food grains among the drivers and their families so far.
