Fuelling the
Future: TrucksUp’s Mission in Smarter Trucking
India’s logistics sector is one of the most critical yet
inefficient engines of its economy. Despite being the backbone of the economy.
it suffers from fragmented operations, lack of visibility, and poor asset
utilization. With millions of trucks running empty on return routes and
outdated systems slowing down supply chains, inefficiencies pile up
fast—hurting both fleet owners and businesses alike.
TrucksUp, a Gurugram-based startup, is on a mission to
change scenario. By infusing technology, trust, and intelligence into the
logistics value chain, it aims to reshape the way freight moves across India.
( Sarthak Elwadhi, Co-founder of TrucksUp)
The inspiration behind TrucksUp didn’t come from a
boardroom—it was born on the ground. After returning from his studies, founder
Sarthak Elwadhi decided to go straight to the source: the transport hubs of
India. He visited dhabas, transport nagars, loading points, and toll plazas,
spending time with truck drivers and small fleet operators to understand their
day-to-day realities. It quickly became clear that the industry was plagued by
challenges such as empty return trips, lack of real-time tracking, delayed
payments, and operational inefficiencies.
What started as challenges of the truck drivers and small
fleet owners turned into a mission of trucksup.
One of the most persistent problems in Indian logistics is
the low asset utilization of trucks, especially on return journeys. TrucksUp
tackles this through its Smart Asset Utilization Engine—an AI-powered system
that matches loads with available trucks based on location, timing, and
capacity.
Industry outlook
India’s $380 billion logistics sector remains largely
unorganized, with over 80% of commercial vehicles owned by small fleet operators.
This fragmentation leads to challenges like delayed payments, low truck
utilization, and minimal digital adoption. A major gap lies in trust and
efficiency—trucks often run empty on return trips, while shippers struggle with
service reliability and real-time visibility.
However, the industry is undergoing a tech-led shift.
Digital freight platforms, AI-powered load matching, and real-time tracking are
beginning to streamline operations. Backed by initiatives like Gati Shakti and
National logistics policy growing investment in green logistics, the next few
years will see greater adoption of EVs, LNG trucks, and smart fleet management
tools. These changes promise a more transparent, efficient, and sustainable
future for Indian trucking.
Mission-Driven, Data-Led
logistics platform
TrucksUp envisions a future where freight movement across
India is smart, seamless, and powered by trust and technology. With a clear
mission “to enable smart, real-time, and trusted freight movement across
India,” the platform acts as a logistics operating system empowering
traditional, broker-led processes with a data-led, transparent ecosystem and also,
it’s an integrated platform and this aggregator app provides an ecosystem to
the truck owner & small fleet owners
At the heart of this ecosystem is The Truck Ownership Cycle which captures the complete journey of a
truck—from purchase to resale—optimized by TrucksUp through tech and financial
solutions. It begins with the purchase
of a new truck, financing partners, and special offers. Once operational,
trucks benefit from smart usage tools
like a load board for freight matching, improving efficiency and reducing idle
time.
To ensure smooth operations, working capital support is offered through fuel/tyre funding,
insurance, repairs, and refinancing. As the truck nears the end of its usage
cycle, it can be listed as a used truck
for sale on the TrucksHub platform, ensuring good resale value or exchange
offers. The funds can then be reinvested in a new truck, completing the cycle.
TrucksUp’s model makes the entire ownership cycle smarter,
more profitable, and sustainable for truckers and fleet operators across India.
Beyond load matching, TrucksUp offers a full suite of
digital logistics tools, including automated documentation, GPS tracking, and
seamless payments, driver assistance and support, driver verification, Real
time visibility, and financing solutions. This integrated system not only
boosts operational efficiency for businesses but also ensures fair, verified
work and timely payments for truckers.
Impact on the ground
TrucksUp is creating real, measurable impact through its
growing ecosystem of partnerships. Notably, its collaborations with financial
partners and major PSUs have brought additional value to the trucking
community. Through its financial partners, TrucksUp is enabling financial
inclusion and credit access for small fleet owners. “Many of our users don’t
have a formal credit history,” the founder explains. “By working with our
financial supporters, we’re helping them access working capital loans, fleet
financing, and digital banking—all through verified transaction data on our
platform.” This has allowed truckers to expand operations, upgrade vehicles,
and maintain cash flow.
Similarly, TrucksUp’s partnership with a leading PSU enables
users to access fuel benefits, loyalty programs, and a wide network of fuel
stations across the country. “Fuel is the highest cost for any trucker,” says
the founder. “Through this partnership, we’ve integrated special fuel cards and
discounts that help reduce this burden, while also providing digital records of
fuel spending for better budgeting.”
The Road Ahead
Looking ahead, TrucksUp
has mapped out a dynamic and ambitious growth strategy. The company plans to
deepen its presence in tier-2 and tier-3 cities, roll out new value-added
services, and broaden its network of collaborations by partnering with more
industry leaders and logistics experts.
The broader goal is to
build an “Operating System for Indian Logistics” where every stakeholder, from
fleet owners to manufacturers, benefits from real-time visibility and
intelligent optimization.
Final Word
We believe logistics isn’t just about moving goods—it’s
about moving opportunity and progress. This vision aligns closely with the
objectives of the National Logistics
Policy (NLP), which aims to enhance efficiency, ensure a seamless supply
chain, and promote technology-driven, truck-focused solutions. TrucksUp’s
data-led platform directly contributes to these goals by digitizing freight
operations, improving asset utilization, and empowering small fleet owners.
